The Senior Clinical Veterinarian, Non-Human Primates role is onsite in Corpus Christi, TX. Pay is $170,000–$200,000 per year. The veterinarian works with non-human primates, including rhesus macaques, at an AAALAC-accredited, PHS-assured, and CDC-registered facility. The role provides clinical and surgical care, leads and mentors veterinary staff, and supports animal-care program oversight and compliance. It contributes to animal welfare and the research program through clinical care, staff guidance, and breeding-colony oversight.
What you'll do
- Lead and mentor junior veterinarians and veterinary staff
- provide medical and surgical care for laboratory animals
- conduct and oversee physical and ophthalmic exams
- advise and train scientists and technicians on animal health and research methodology
- assist the Director with animal-care program oversight and compliance
- manage an assigned section
- serve as acting department head in the Director’s absence
- address animal-care concerns
- support import, export, and quarantine operations
- oversee primates through breeding and life stages
- perform procedures including C-sections, ultrasounds, nutritional monitoring, dystocia management, and routine health exams.
