The Automation Technician role is onsite in LaPorte, IN, with compensation of $32–$40 per hour. Howmet Aerospace’s LaPorte facility manufactures jet engine components for aerospace customers. The technician supports automated manufacturing equipment and robotic systems to improve reliability, productivity, safety, and process performance. Depending on specialization, the role troubleshoots controls or develops and maintains robotic programs, working with production, maintenance, engineering, and vendors.

What you'll do

• For controls specialization, troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and robotic control systems
• partner with maintenance to resolve equipment issues
• improve system reliability, safety, and productivity
• support equipment performance improvements
• document automation programs and changes. For robot programming specialization, create, modify, troubleshoot, and maintain robotic programs
• develop tooling and fixtures
• use offline programming software
• optimize process variables
• support and train operators
• document changes
• collaborate to resolve manufacturing and quality issues.
