Job overview

The Senior Principal Engineer role is hybrid in Washington, DC, with office work Monday–Thursday and the option to work remotely on Fridays. The annual salary range is $158,843–$190,629. The Edison Electric Institute represents U.S. investor-owned electric companies and supports work on grid reliability and resilience. As a technical authority in the Reliability department, the engineer advises member companies, leads technical discussions, develops industry positions, and engages with regulators and peer organizations to advance reliable and resilient electric-grid operations.

What you'll do

  • Provide technical guidance on transmission and distribution issues
  • lead Reliability Technical Committee discussions
  • draft evaluations and comments on NERC standards, guidelines, and technical documents
  • build member consensus
  • inform EEI positions for FERC and DOE proceedings with policy and legal colleagues
  • engage NERC, FERC, and peer organizations to identify grid risks and champion solutions.

Why this role
