Building Engineer

Job overview

The Building Engineer is an onsite, full-time position in Charlottesville, VA, paying $25–$30 per hour. The role reports to the Chief Engineer or Portfolio Manager and provides maintenance services for the property’s buildings and grounds. The engineer completes work orders and emergency repairs, monitors building conditions and maintenance spending, and coordinates with vendors and occupants. This work helps maintain building systems that affect occupant health and security, reduce risk, and support property retention.

What you'll do

• Complete work orders within prescribed time frames
• respond to emergency repair requests
• evaluate building and grounds conditions and recommend repairs
• follow company safety policy
• recommend budget items and monitor maintenance spending
• monitor vendor and contractor work
• prepare daily maintenance schedules
• maintain work-order and repair records, parts and supply inventory, and component warranties.
