The Senior Software Engineer, Platform role is onsite in Los Angeles, CA at least four days per week under Metropolis’s office-first model. Compensation is $170,000–$200,000 per year. Metropolis builds technology for parking, mobility, retail, and hospitality, including an artificial intelligence platform for real-world experiences. The engineer designs and maintains scalable backend services and real-time data systems that connect hardware and machine learning. The role contributes reliable infrastructure and tooling across the product ecosystem in partnership with Hardware, Machine Learning, and Operations teams.

What you'll do

• Build backend services in Java and Scala
• design gRPC APIs
• use Redis and MySQL for data storage and retrieval
• deploy and manage microservices on Kubernetes
• build event-driven systems with Kafka
• partner with Hardware, Machine Learning, and Operations teams
• address performance and scalability bottlenecks while maintaining reliability and data integrity.
