Independent Living Skills Instructor

The Independent Living Skills Instructor role is onsite in Oakland, CA, with compensation of $20 per hour. Journey to Thrive ILS provides individualized services to help people with developmental disabilities build skills and independence in their communities. The instructor helps clients work toward personal goals by teaching daily living skills in home and community settings. The role also coordinates with families, regional centers, and support teams while documenting progress and advocating for client self-determination.

What you'll do

• Provide Independent Living Skills instruction in clients’ homes and community settings
• develop and implement individualized service plans
• teach budgeting, cooking, personal hygiene, and community navigation
• document client progress
• collaborate with regional centers, families, and support teams
• accompany and transport clients to appointments and activities as needed
• advocate for client rights and independence.
