NETA Technician

Job overview

The NETA Technician role is onsite in the Minneapolis–St. Paul, MN area, with compensation of $41–$60.20 per hour on a union scale, depending on experience and certification level. The role supports electrical field testing and maintenance across the upper Midwest. The technician tests, commissions, and maintains electrical power equipment at substations, industrial plants, data centers, and utilities. Accurate testing and documentation help verify equipment readiness and identify issues before they become failures, supporting reliable infrastructure and site safety.

What you'll do

• Test, inspect, and maintain medium- and high-voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers, relays, and cable
• operate high-voltage test equipment
• commission installations
• support planned outages and respond to emergency calls
• document test results and flag issues
• and follow NFPA 70E and site safety practices. Level III–IV technicians lead jobsites, coordinate with customers, and mentor junior technicians.
