The Senior Staff/Principal Software Engineer – GPU System Software, Onboard Execution role is onsite in Foster City, CA, with a base salary range of $339,000–$455,000 per year. The role is part of Zoox’s Software Performance organization, which owns end-to-end performance of the onboard software stack. Zoox is developing a purpose-built autonomous robotaxi. This technical leadership role defines how onboard AI workloads are scheduled, shared, isolated, and sized across GPUs. It drives compute reduction and performance strategy across models, runtimes, middleware, and hardware to support safe, real-time vehicle operation and future vehicle platforms.
What you'll do
- Architect onboard GPU execution, including scheduling, multi-tenancy, isolation, and deterministic latency
- own a multi-year roadmap to reduce onboard compute per vehicle
- guide GPU and system-on-chip selection, topology, memory budgets, and platform bring-up
- set direction for inference technologies including TensorRT, CUDA, custom kernels, and quantization
- lead and mentor senior engineers and align cross-functional leaders.
