Mechanical Project Engineer

The Mechanical Project Engineer role is onsite in Naperville, IL. Compensation is $120,000–$150,000 per year. Formic’s Project Engineering team supports deployed automation systems and product development as part of the company’s effort to make factory automation accessible. The engineer owns mechanical design, documentation, integration, and commissioning for automation systems, from concept through release. The work improves deployment readiness, reliability, and the ongoing development of Formic’s automation portfolio.

What you'll do

• Design automation systems and assemblies, including palletizing, case packing, conveyor, material handling, and end-of-arm tooling
• prototype, assemble, and test systems using SolidWorks
• maintain models, drawings, revision control, and release documentation
• support floor integration and commissioning
• troubleshoot and perform root-cause analysis
• develop test plans and training materials
• coordinate with internal teams, vendors, integrators, and original equipment manufacturers
• travel up to 25%.
