Licensed Veterinary Technician

Job overview

The Licensed Veterinary Technician role is onsite in New York, NY. Pay is $34 per hour. Animal Care Centers of NYC works to end animal homelessness and provides care and placement support for animals in need. The technician assists with medical and surgical care for shelter animals, manages treatment plans for hospitalized patients, performs diagnostics and sampling, administers medications, and supports the surgery team. The role contributes to timely, quality care for animals in the shelter’s medical department.

What you'll do

• Administer drugs and vaccines as directed
• perform examinations as needed
• handle, restrain, and triage animals
• collect blood samples and place IV catheters
• assist with surgery and anesthesia monitoring
• obtain diagnostics and samples
• perform basic laboratory tests
• document medications, exams, and treatments
• maintain medical equipment and clean medical areas
• assist with animal transfers and cruelty case documentation
• obtain required euthanasia and Fear Free certifications.
