The Principal Modern Controls Engineer (Embedded Systems) works onsite in New Hudson, MI, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with additional hours as needed for project deadlines. Travel is approximately 10%, primarily within the Great Lakes region. Compensation is $104,000–$173,000 per year. The role supports development of next-generation defense vehicle technologies. This hands-on technical leadership role designs and validates embedded control systems and integrates them at the vehicle level. It contributes to advanced defense platforms through control algorithm development, modeling, testing, troubleshooting, and mentoring engineers while helping expand the organization’s controls capabilities.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, implement, and validate embedded control systems for vehicle applications
• develop classical and modern control algorithms
• analyze stability, robustness, and performance
• design and tune multi-loop and multi-axis control architectures
• implement embedded software using MATLAB/Simulink and C/C++
• validate through SIL, HIL, bench, and vehicle testing
• develop system models and correlate them with test data
• support hardware architecture and electronic integration
• troubleshoot integrated systems
• mentor engineers and establish engineering best practices.
