Lead Electrical Engineer — Substations

The Lead Electrical Engineer role is hybrid, with offices listed in Boston, MA; New York, NY; Philadelphia, PA; and Atlanta, GA. Compensation is $180,000–$210,000 per year, plus bonus eligibility. Vanderweil Engineers provides engineering, MEP/FP, and technology services. The engineer leads high-voltage substation design from early concepts through construction support, providing technical oversight across physical design and protection and control. The role also guides project teams, supports client decisions, and maintains engineering quality and delivery standards.

What you'll do

• Lead electrical engineering for high-voltage substations from conceptual and preliminary design through final design, construction support, and record drawings
• oversee physical design and protection and control design
• serve as PE-of-record or stamping authority for assigned projects
• establish checking and QA/QC processes
• lead technical reviews and client meetings
• support scope, proposals, and fee development
• mentor engineers and designers
• coordinate with other disciplines
• and support field investigations, construction engineering, RFIs, submittals, energization, and as-built documentation.
