Job overview
The Fire/Security Alarm Installation Technician role is based in Norwalk, CT, with work across commercial and retail locations nationwide; compensation is $30–$50 per hour. Wachter designs, installs, and maintains electrical, data, security, communications, and automation technologies for commercial and industrial clients. The technician installs, tests, troubleshoots, and maintains fire alarm systems and related low-voltage infrastructure. The role supports safe, compliant system operation through accurate installation records, adherence to NFPA standards, and coordination with project teams.
What you'll do
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain fire alarm systems
- run low-voltage cabling and install cable supports
- test installed cabling and devices
- troubleshoot cable networks and alarm panels
- comply with NFPA 70 and 72
- collaborate on pre-installation design and planning
- maintain work records
- and follow project safety requirements. The posting requires extensive travel of two to six weeks at a time and flexible shifts, including nights and on-call work.

Why this role
The posting requires field installation experience in fire alarm and/or intrusion systems, a current state-required physical security or life safety license, knowledge of NFPA standards, blueprint-reading experience, and a valid driver’s license. NICET Level 2 certification is preferred. A signing bonus of up to $15,000 is offered based on experience and licenses.
