What you'll do

• Analyze work orders, blueprints, sketches, models, and descriptions
• determine materials and machining sequences
• heat-treat parts
• cut, shape, and trim prototypes
• lay out stock
• set up and operate milling machines, shapers, grinders, and water jets
• verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances
• inspect dies, tools, jigs, and fixtures and recommend design modifications
• develop specifications and sketches for specialty tools
• follow workplace safety procedures.
