The Kitchen Assistant role is an onsite, full-time position in New York, NY. Compensation is $18.50–$19.50 per hour. West Side Federation of Senior and Supportive Housing provides affordable senior housing with supportive services intended to promote residents’ independence and dignity. The role supports the meal program by helping distribute and set up meals, assisting with food preparation as needed, and cleaning food-service areas. It also helps ensure deliveries and food stocks are handled according to applicable food-safety procedures while contributing to respectful service for residents.

What you'll do

• Clean kitchen, storage, equipment, and dining areas
• wash dishes and pots
• assist with meal setup, distribution, and food preparation
• receive and store food deliveries according to regulations
• label, date, and rotate stock
• meet with supervisors about food-service procedures
• communicate resident needs to appropriate staff
• attend required training
• implement emergency procedures when necessary.
