Senior Vice President, Translational Science

The Senior Vice President, Translational Science works onsite at Bakar Labs in Berkeley, CA. Compensation is not specified. The role connects biology and translational strategy with IND-enabling work, early clinical planning, and decisions that advance the company’s programs.

What you'll do

• Lead translational strategy for corrector and potentiator programs from development candidate nomination through Phase 1/2
• guide go/no-go decisions across biology and related strategies
• own the path from discovery into clinical development
• partner with the Chief Discovery Officer and Chief Medical Officer on dose selection and endpoints
• contribute to regulatory strategy and represent science in pre-IND and other agency interactions
• lead and develop the translational science team
• advise senior leadership and work with research leadership and the Board
• communicate program strategy and data to investors, partners, and the Board.

Why this role

Requires a PhD or MD/PhD and 15+ years of biotech or pharmaceutical drug-development experience, including taking multiple programs into Phase 1 or Phase 2. Renal experience is preferred but not required.
