Hot Metal Crane Operator

Job overview

The Hot Metal Crane Operator role is onsite in Youngstown, OH, with compensation of $24 per hour. The position supports Vallourec Star LP’s Melt Shop Operations Team. The role exists to move ladles and charge scrap safely and accurately in support of steel production. The operator handles ladle and charging cranes, inspects ladles and equipment, reports crane issues, and supports refractory, EAF, LMF, and casting operations as needed.

What you'll do

• Transport empty ladles to the ladle car
• inspect ladles for missing brick and hot spots
• move liquid-steel ladles between the ladle car, LMF, and caster
• charge scrap into the EAF
• remove and replace electrodes at the EAF and LMF
• operate ladle and charging cranes safely
• identify and report crane issues
• support refractory, EAF, LMF, and casting operations as needed.
