Substitute Teaching Assistant

The Substitute Teaching Assistant role is onsite in Onarga, IL, with compensation of $17–$18 per hour. The position supports students at Grand Prairie School, an onsite therapeutic school serving youth in Nexus-Onarga’s residential program. The assistant supports classroom learning and student supervision in educational and residential settings, helping maintain a safe, supportive environment and carry out lesson plans, treatment plans, and individualized education programs.

What you'll do

• Provide one-on-one instructional support based on lesson plans
• assist with lessons, assignments, classroom materials, attendance, and progress records
• supervise classrooms and study halls
• collaborate with teachers
• support student treatment plans and IEPs
• monitor behavior and assist with restraints when necessary
• support transport between residential units
• follow safety, emergency, privacy, and professional-boundary requirements.
