The Director of Operations role is onsite in Louisville, KY. Pay is $112,000–$145,000 per year. Whelan Machine & Tool builds precision components and assemblies for defense and commercial customers. Reporting to the General Manager, the director leads day-to-day manufacturing operations across machining, welding, assembly, maintenance, production control, and materials and warehouse. The role coordinates production and develops operational performance in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

What you'll do

• Set production priorities to meet customer schedules and contract delivery dates
• lead operations managers across maintenance, welding, assembly, offload, machining, production control, and materials/warehouse
• run production meetings and track safety, quality, delivery, throughput, labor efficiency, and scrap
• balance capacity and determine overtime, shift coverage, and outside work
• champion safety and address quality nonconformances
• manage budgets, labor plans, and capital requests
• lead continuous improvement
• ensure ITAR, CUI, and AS9100 requirements are followed and support customer visits and audits.
