The Cook role is onsite at the Shreveport Job Corps Center in Shreveport, LA. Compensation is $17.23 per hour. The position supports a U.S. Department of Labor Job Corps contractor; Job Corps provides residential career-based technical and academic training and job-placement assistance to eligible youth ages 16–24. The cook coordinates meal preparation and cafeteria activities while maintaining a clean, safe kitchen. Preparing nutritious meals and keeping food-service records supports trainees’ daily needs and the center’s residential program.

What you'll do

• Prepare and serve appetizing, attractive, and nutritious meals according to planned menus and standard procedures
• store leftovers appropriately
• maintain hot and cold food temperatures and food-handling cleanliness
• clean and organize assigned areas
• maintain food-temperature records, equipment logs, inventories, and daily usage logs
• record meal counts
• use, clean, and maintain food-service equipment
• report repair or replacement needs
• maintain a safe work environment.
