What you'll do

• Operate and monitor gas- and propane-fired water-tube and fire-tube boilers, electronic controls, and auxiliary equipment. Monitor gauges, charts, meters, water levels, temperatures, pressures, combustion, and fuel/air ratios, making authorized adjustments. Operate the boiler feedwater treatment system, conduct water tests, dose treatment chemicals, and record results. Monitor systems using Johnson Controls Metasys and Siemens Desigo. Inspect controls and plant equipment
• respond to alarms and utility interruptions, escalate emergencies to VA Engineering, troubleshoot, and perform minor maintenance and repairs within assigned scope. Maintain operating, shift, inspection, and water-treatment records and provide shift handoffs. Complete site orientation, cross-training, and required VA online training.

Why this role

Four 10-hour shifts weekly; expected swing shifts Wednesday–Saturday, 2:00 p.m.–12:00 a.m., or graveyard shifts Sunday–Wednesday, 10:00 p.m.–8:00 a.m. Federal holidays are worked. Two operators are based at each site, with cross-training for coverage at either location.
