Job overview

The Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), Emergency, Weekend Overnight works onsite in Charlottesville, VA, and pays $30–$40 per hour. This is a part-time weekend schedule from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. at Virginia Veterinary Specialty & Emergency, which provides 24/7 advanced care for pets. The LVT provides emergency veterinary nursing and supports veterinarians with procedures, diagnostics, triage, and patient monitoring. The role contributes to timely care for emergency patients and clear communication with their owners and the veterinary team.

What you'll do

  • Provide veterinary nursing, including restraint, postoperative care, catheter placement, wound management, and bandaging
  • assist veterinarians with emergency procedures, anesthesia, surgical preparation, monitoring, and recovery
  • provide emergency care such as CPR, fluid therapy, oxygen administration, and blood transfusions
  • conduct diagnostic and laboratory testing
  • operate diagnostic equipment
  • triage patients and document condition and treatment
  • educate clients about care, treatments, and follow-up
  • maintain a safe, clean, organized ER
  • collaborate with the veterinary team.

Why this role

Requires an active Virginia LVT license and an Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology from an accredited program. Two or more years of emergency veterinary medicine experience is preferred. Cross-training in specialty services is offered as an opportunity.
