Maintenance Assistant

The Maintenance Assistant role is onsite in Bowling Green, VA, and pays $24 per hour. It is full-time, with shifts varying according to operational needs and scheduled within regular business hours. Caroline Detention Facility operates a 336-bed secure facility and partners with the Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement to house and support federal detainees. Working from assignments provided by the Maintenance Chief, the assistant helps maintain facility operations and supports safe, functional buildings and grounds. The role combines inspections, repairs, upkeep, contractor and work-crew oversight, and accurate records in a secure environment.

What you'll do

• Assist with preventive maintenance and vehicle inspections
• help with plumbing and electrical repairs, painting, groundskeeping, and facility improvements
• monitor contractors working within the secure perimeter
• oversee detainee work crews on approved projects
• maintain inspection and inventory records
• ensure tools and equipment are properly secured.
