Outside Plant Field Engineer

Job overview

The Outside Plant Field Engineer role is onsite in Chicago, IL, with extensive travel to project sites in various states and up to 100% travel possible. Compensation is $24–$29 per hour. Pearce provides asset management, maintenance, repair, operations, and engineering services for critical infrastructure. The role gathers and validates field information about telecommunications fiber networks so the engineering team can develop accurate designs and address site conditions. It may also provide informal guidance to junior staff from time to time.

What you'll do

• Validate existing field designs and layouts for aerial, buried, and underground fiber networks
• identify, photograph, and document outside plant facilities
• measure attachment heights, spans, and facility distances
• identify utility facilities and ownership
• record bonding, grounding, guying, and anchor details
• deliver field notes and photographs to engineering
• identify obstructions and propose mitigation
• use GIS maps, drawings, and field measurement tools.
