Controller, Vice President of Accounting is an onsite role in Woburn, MA, with additional in-office presence expected during close periods. The stated full-time salary range is $290,000–$330,000 per year. STR develops technology for defense, intelligence, and national security, including research and development in sensors, communications, cyber, and artificial intelligence. Reporting to the CFO, the Controller leads accounting operations, internal controls, and a team of more than 10 accounting professionals. The role strengthens financial reporting, audit readiness, and scalable accounting processes as the company grows and prepares for potential capital-markets opportunities.

What you'll do

• Lead and develop the accounting team
• oversee financial, tax, cost, and technical accounting
• manage monthly and quarterly close and balance-sheet integrity
• ensure compliance with US GAAP and government contracting requirements
• oversee contract revenue recognition and estimate-at-completion processes
• prepare and review technical accounting documentation
• support financial analysis, proposals, and government audits
• build scalable systems, controls, and public-company-grade reporting
• partner with the CFO and executive leadership
• coordinate external audits and tax advisors.
