Recreation Instructor

The Recreation Instructor role is onsite in Chicago, IL, with compensation of $23 per hour. The instructor works with Misericordia’s Performance Arts team, Resident Events coordinator, residential areas, direct care staff, and volunteers. Misericordia serves people with developmental and intellectual disabilities. The role plans and facilitates person-centered music, creative arts, theater, dance, and wellness programs adapted to residents’ abilities and interests. Through classes, activities, and events, the instructor supports residents’ opportunities for expression, activity, and community participation.

What you'll do

• Plan and facilitate person-centered music, creative arts, theater, dance, and wellness and fitness programs
• develop lesson plans and adapt programs for different ability levels
• plan and implement campus and community events
• instruct direct care staff on Active Treatment techniques and activities
• communicate with residential areas and volunteers to encourage participation
• assist with post-program activities and Special Olympics events as needed.
