Senior Food Scientist — Product Development

Job overview

The Senior Food Scientist role is onsite in Germantown, WI, and reports to the Director of Research and Development. Compensation is $100,000–$115,000 per year. Gehl Foods develops food products, and this role leads product development projects from concept through commercialization. The scientist leads formulation and scale-up work for dairy beverages, sauces, and nutritional products, applying aseptic and ultra-high-temperature processing expertise to meet product and shelf-life requirements. The role also troubleshoots technical challenges, leads customer and plant trials, mentors scientists, and coordinates with cross-functional teams to bring products to market.

What you'll do

• Lead formulation of low-acid aseptic dairy beverages, sauces, and nutritional products
• manage development from bench formulation and pilot trials through scale-up and commercial launch
• apply aseptic/UHT processing expertise
• troubleshoot formulation and processing challenges
• lead customer trials, technical reviews, sensory evaluations, and plant startups
• identify innovation, product improvement, and cost optimization opportunities
• mentor scientists
• partner with manufacturing, food safety, regulatory, sales, marketing, procurement, and packaging teams.
