DeafBlind Intervener — Full-Time, School-Year Assignment

The DeafBlind Intervener role is onsite in Washington, DC, supporting students in a K–12 school setting. Compensation is $22–$26 per hour. ContextGlobal partners with The Maryland School for the Blind to provide support to DeafBlind students. Working one-to-one under the direction of the classroom teacher and alongside the academic team, the intervener facilitates communication and access to information, learning, and social interaction. The role helps students develop communication, concepts, skills, and independence while supporting their individualized education program goals.

What you'll do

• Facilitate communication and access to environmental information
• support receptive and expressive communication
• work with the educational team to facilitate communication, adapt lesson plans, and implement activities and learning strategies aligned with student IEP goals
• encourage interaction, choice-making, problem-solving, and hands-on learning
• maintain a trusting relationship that supports social and emotional development.

Why this role

Candidates may already hold the National Intervener Credential or be willing to enroll in and complete an intervener training program while employed. American Sign Language proficiency is required; tactile/pro-tactile signing and Deaf culture knowledge are preferred.
