The role assists Supervisory Judges with probate matters involving estates of Indians who die owning interests in property held in trust by the U.S. government. It supports case preparation, hearing administration, and drafting and review of probate decisions and orders.

What you'll do

• Review assigned case files for completeness and accuracy
• seek missing information and identify potential case complications
• research related cases and verify family histories and potential heirs
• update case status in the docketing system and coordinate hearing schedules
• prepare hearing notices and assist judges during hearings
• review records after hearings and help prepare supplemental hearing documents
• draft probate decisions or orders and review drafts for errors
• provide backup assistance and case-related correspondence.
