Assistant Camp Director — Recreation Center

The Assistant Camp Director role is onsite in Lenexa, KS, supporting the City of Lenexa Parks and Recreation Department’s licensed day camp for Summer 2027. Compensation is $18.75 per hour. The assistant helps manage camp operations, support staff, and maintain a safe, engaging environment for campers. The role contributes through staff scheduling, program planning, communication with families, incident documentation, and support for activities and events.

What you'll do

• Supervise and schedule up to 25 staff members
• communicate with parents or guardians, participants, and personnel
• align camp operations with Lenexa and KDHE guidelines
• maintain safety and enforce behavior policies
• assist with program planning, group rotations, and activities
• document incidents and report them to the Camp Director or Recreation Supervisor
• dispense medications and administer Epi-Pens after required training
• support specialty camps and special events
• drive a 15-passenger vehicle as needed
• inspect, clean, and maintain program equipment and areas.
