Medical Assistant - Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine

The Medical Assistant role is onsite in Lansing, MI. Pay is $16 per hour. The position supports Capitol Area Pulmonary Associates’ outpatient pulmonary and sleep medicine practice, working alongside physicians and advanced practice providers. The assistant prepares patients and clinical records, supports examinations and procedures, and performs pulmonary testing and other duties within scope of practice. The role contributes to patient care and clinic operations through accurate documentation, communication, and coordination with providers and patients.

What you'll do

• Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for appointments
• obtain and document vital signs and patient histories in the EHR
• prepare charts
• assist providers during examinations and procedures
• perform pulmonary function and six-minute walk tests
• administer injections and breathing treatments within scope
• process refill requests, referrals, and documentation
• assist with prior authorizations
• respond to patient calls
• maintain records and supplies
• and follow confidentiality and HIPAA requirements. One year of Medical Assistant experience and a high school diploma or equivalent are required
• certification is preferred but not required.
