Assistant Teacher — Early Childhood Education

The Assistant Teacher role is onsite in Poughkeepsie, NY, and pays $17.00–$19.00 per hour. The position supports classroom teachers at The Learning Experience and helps create a safe, welcoming environment for children and families. The assistant supports curriculum implementation, caregiving, and developmentally appropriate activities for infants, toddlers, and/or preschool children. By meeting children’s everyday needs and building relationships with families and colleagues, the role contributes to children’s learning, development, and well-being.

What you'll do

• Partner with teachers to maintain a stimulating classroom
• support implementation of the L.E.A.P. Curriculum
• prioritize children’s safety
• help update parents on progress and milestones
• collaborate with center staff and leadership
• meet children’s everyday needs, including diapering, dressing, grooming, and feeding
• encourage social skills and conflict resolution
• keep children engaged in developmentally appropriate activities
• supervise children by sight and sound.
