Mental Health Therapist

The Mental Health Therapist role is onsite in Laurel, MS, providing supportive therapeutic services in the community. Compensation is not specified. The role is part of Mississippi Behavioral Health Services’ program and reports to case management, clinical leadership, and corporate compliance contacts. The therapist assesses clients’ strengths, resources, and goals; provides strength-based treatment and crisis intervention as needed; and maintains timely clinical documentation. The work supports clients’ treatment goals, safety, and stability through coordination with agency staff and community supports.

What you'll do

• Provide strength-based, solution-focused supportive therapeutic services in the community
• assess clients’ strengths, resources, and goals within the first 30 days
• provide ongoing strength-based planning and treatment
• ensure an individualized crisis recovery plan is on file within 30 days
• participate in collaborative meetings
• provide crisis intervention as needed under agency policies
• communicate changes in client status and safety concerns
• document every client contact and services provided
• attend training and clinical supervision
• follow safety rules.

Why this role

Requires a master’s degree in social work or a related mental health field, DMH credentialing as a Mental Health Therapist, and at least 15 hours of graduate-level coursework or practicum in applied intervention strategies.
