Head of Engineering, Foundations

Job overview

The Head of Engineering, Foundations role is hybrid, with office work in New York City at least two days per week; compensation starts at $280,000 annually. The role reports to the CEO and leads the team responsible for infrastructure supporting AngelList’s private-markets platform. The role exists to build and lead the engineering foundation used across the organization while continuing to ship code. It advances reliability, developer experience, and safe infrastructure for systems that handle money, including the harnesses agents use to interact with those systems.

What you'll do

• Hire, coach, and grow a high-performing engineering team
• develop staff and principal engineers
• build developer platforms, deployment pipelines, observability, and developer tooling
• automate infrastructure as code on Kubernetes and AWS using Pulumi, cdk8s, and ArgoCD
• build agent execution harnesses with sandboxing, audit trails, and rollback
• set standards for reliability, operability, and architectural coherence
• personally ship code.
