Job overview

The Surface Mount Technology Machine Operator I & II role is onsite in Federal Way, Washington. Compensation is $19–$28 per hour. Cascade Systems Technology provides electronics manufacturing services, including printed circuit board assemblies and electronic systems; JB Consulting Systems is the listed employer. The operators support production of electronic assemblies by running and monitoring surface mount equipment, following production and safety procedures, and documenting work. Level II operators also perform additional programming, inspection, troubleshooting, and training tasks to support quality and production continuity.

What you'll do

• Operator I: perform kit audits
• operate pick-and-place equipment
• set up and operate screen printers
• verify and load feeders
• complete production records
• follow build and shipping schedules
• monitor equipment and report issues or shortages
• promptly report quality issues
• follow chemical handling, SDS, ESD, and safety procedures. Operator II performs these duties plus basic programming and debugging, prepares boards for thermal profiling, performs X-ray inspections as required, reports machine problems, and trains Level I operators as directed.

Why this role

Operator I requires a high school diploma or equivalent; entry-level candidates with mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn may be considered. Operator II requires two years of established work experience, with pick-and-place programming experience and SMT equipment experience specified. Schedule flexibility and overtime as needed are required; shifts may start as early as 4:00 or 5:00 a.m. and include up to 10-hour workdays.
