Senior Kubernetes Platform Engineer

Job overview

The Senior Kubernetes Platform Engineer role is onsite in Washington, DC, with compensation of $58–$60 per hour. The engineer will support a major transportation organization through ZipStaff’s technology staffing partnership. This role leads the design, security, and scaling of multi-cloud Kubernetes infrastructure. It builds platform standards and automated delivery capabilities that support reliable, secure services and enable engineering teams to deliver software effectively.

What you'll do

• Design and maintain production EKS and AKS platform standards, cluster lifecycles, cross-cloud networking, storage, disaster recovery, and multi-region portability. Develop ArgoCD GitOps patterns and GitHub Actions Runner Controller workflows, including progressive delivery and rollback mechanisms. Establish access, network, security, and policy controls
• publish hardened container images and reusable Terraform modules
• define reliability measures and integrate quality, security, and testing gates into CI/CD. Mentor engineering teams and author Architectural Decision Records.
