Authorizations Specialist

The Authorizations Specialist role is onsite in Frederick, MD, with set hours Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pay is $16–$18 per hour. The position supports a cardiology office. The specialist helps coordinate insurance authorizations and billing-related follow-up so testing and patient appointments can proceed with coverage requirements addressed. The role also assists patients with billing questions and maintains confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines.

What you'll do

• Verify insurance coverage and authorization requirements
• notify patients of outstanding deductibles before appointments
• submit authorization requests for in-house testing
• research claim denials and address authorization issues
• obtain billing documentation from providers
• respond to patient billing inquiries
• evaluate patient financial status and establish budget payment plans
• review payments before statements are submitted
• maintain confidentiality and follow HIPAA guidelines.
