Mid-Level Transportation Design Engineer

The Mid-Level Transportation Design Engineer role is hybrid in Sioux Falls, SD, with compensation of $80,000–$98,000 per year. The position is based in Felsburg Holt & Ullevig’s Sioux Falls office and supports transportation projects for municipal and South Dakota Department of Transportation clients. Working mainly under a senior project manager, the engineer prepares and coordinates transportation design plans and documents, supports project delivery, and helps maintain budget, schedule, and quality goals. The role also offers opportunities to manage smaller assignments and develop project-management skills.

What you'll do

• Use engineering design software to prepare plans and documents
• prepare or modify design criteria, plans, specifications, cost opinions, and reports
• coordinate roadway, traffic, environmental, structural, and drainage design elements
• assist with budgets, estimates, scopes, marketing strategies, and schedules
• instruct designers and technicians
• follow quality-system tasks
• mentor junior engineers and designers
• coordinate construction-phase engineering assistance and client needs.
