Fire Protection Designer — Hybrid

The Fire Protection Designer is a hybrid position based near the listed office locations, including Chicago, IL. Pay is $32–$43 per hour. The role is part of HED, an integrated architecture and engineering practice. The designer develops fire protection documentation and calculations, coordinates with project disciplines, and takes responsibility for portions of design packages with guidance from project engineers. This work supports project delivery and the design of building fire protection and life safety systems.

What you'll do

• Produce fire protection sheet lists and set up project files in Revit
• participate in BIM Project Execution Plans
• model fire protection components and systems in Revit based on codes, client requirements, and engineering guidance
• coordinate with project engineers and impacted disciplines
• participate in construction administration, submittal reviews, and RFI responses under supervision
• edit Division 21 specifications
• check work and participate in quality assurance and quality control
• attend project meetings and follow up on coordination items
• estimate and manage assigned project hours.
