The Insurance Agency Accountant role is based in Ashburn, VA, with a hybrid schedule available after the initial onboarding period. Compensation is a base salary of $75,000–$95,000 per year, plus bonus opportunity. The client is an independent agency providing commercial, personal, employee benefits, auto, and home insurance solutions. The accountant oversees daily accounting operations and leads a small accounting team, supporting accurate financial reporting and agency operations. The role manages close and reconciliation work, supports forecasting, audits, tax preparation, and regulatory reporting, and collaborates with agency leadership and internal departments.

What you'll do

• Oversee daily accounting operations
• perform general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, account analysis, and financial reporting
• manage month-end and year-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
• support forecasting, auditing, tax preparation, and regulatory reporting
• monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash flow, and banking relationships
• coordinate with external auditors
• maintain accounting procedures and operational controls
• supervise and support three accounting associates
• collaborate with agency leadership and internal departments
• use Applied Epic or a similar agency management system.
