Zipline operates an autonomous drone delivery system that delivers critical supplies, food, medicine, and other goods. The engineer owns software-driven test systems that validate long-range delivery drones across engineering, manufacturing, and fleet operations. By building and sustaining automated test rigs and validation pipelines, the role helps catch failures before flight and improve production throughput, defect rates, and fleet reliability. The position includes on-call production support and travel to sites as required, typically up to 20% in the first year.

What you'll do

• Own test systems from prototype through production deployment and field sustainment
• develop software for test sequences, data capture, analysis, reporting, automation, and dashboards
• integrate software with hardware under test
• investigate test and production failures and drive corrective actions
• define test standards and validation protocols
• maintain CI and validation pipelines
• coordinate with firmware, hardware, manufacturing, supply chain, and field operations
• support on-call and production escalation rotations
• travel to manufacturing or distribution sites as required.
