The machinist operates precision CNC machining and/or gear-cutting equipment to produce precise gears and other parts. The role contributes to product quality and production performance through close-tolerance machining, inspection, setup, maintenance, and process-improvement work.

What you'll do

• Operate multiple machines as required
• interpret written instructions, specifications, and blueprints
• perform turning operations on aluminum, cast iron, and steel to specified tolerances
• use hand tools and precision measuring instruments
• monitor production and inspect finished parts
• perform machine setups and tool changes
• complete work orders and report labor hours
• perform minor maintenance
• recommend process changes
• maintain an orderly work area and communicate production status.
