Behavior Specialist 1:1 in Brookfield, VT. This is an onsite, full-time position with an hourly rate of $23 - $28 based on experience. ChanceLight Behavioral Health, Therapy, & Education is dedicated to providing hope and transformative education to students. This role focuses on enhancing positive student behaviors through school-wide classroom implementation of positive behavior support programs. The Behavior Specialist will proactively address challenging behaviors and respond to crisis situations using de-escalation techniques.

What you'll do

  • Implement targeted individual, group, and system-wide interventions
  • Reinforce positive student behavior and redirect negative behaviors
  • Maintain accurate records of SBS and BIPs
  • Collect, analyze, and chart behavioral data
  • Provide support to classroom staff in behavior management
  • Apply ABA principles under BCBA direction
  • Conduct behavioral observations for FBAs and BIPs
  • Assist teachers with instructional activities and classroom management
  • Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation
  • Complete documentation of incidents
  • Adhere to safety protocols
  • Participate in team meetings and professional development
  • Supervise students during school activities
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

What we're looking for

Education
Associate's degree or higher in a closely related field of study.
Experience
Associate's degree or higher in a closely related field of study. Prior experience providing behavioral instruction, guidance and/or support to children; preferably in an alternative, special education and/or behavioral health program setting. Highly skilled in working with children with learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, emotional behavioral disorders and/or other related disabilities. Proficiency in providing motivation and having critical conversations with students that help move them toward realistic goals. Ability to think and act quickly and calmly in an emergency situation and make independent decisions. Solid motivational skills and willingness to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities and new initiatives. Advanced oral and written communication, organization, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem solving, and decision-making ability.
