Core Technician

Job overview

The Core Technician works onsite in Marana, AZ. Compensation is not specified. The role supports the geology department with diamond drill core handling, processing and sampling. The technician prepares, documents, photographs, cuts and stores core samples and helps deliver samples for laboratory analysis. Accurate handling and records support geologists and the project team's evaluation of mine-site materials.

What you'll do

• Receive, handle and move drill core boxes and pallets
• arrange boxes and check footage blocks
• photograph and sort core images
• conduct specific gravity measurements, point-load or other in-situ tests
• cut core and insert QA/QC samples
• complete cutting logs and lab forms
• palletize and store core
• deliver samples to the assay lab as required
• prepare samples and shipment lists
• maintain housekeeping and use appropriate PPE
• operate forklifts after training
• assist geologists as required.

Why this role

Requires a valid driver's license and high school diploma or equivalent. MSHA certification is preferred and must be obtained during the first three days of employment. Ability to lift 50-pound core boxes is required.
