The Engineering Technician V – Firefighting, Auxiliaries & Pollution Abatement position is full-time and onsite in San Diego, CA. Pay is $39.78 per hour, with an additional $5.09 per hour in health and welfare benefits. The role supports U.S. Navy shipboard equipment at the Southwest Regional Maintenance Center and is contingent on contract award, anticipated for February 2027. The technician provides engineering and technical support to help keep shipboard systems reliable and the Pacific Fleet mission-ready. Work includes equipment evaluations, troubleshooting, inspections, repairs, maintenance training for ship personnel, and reporting findings; travel of up to 10% may include overseas locations.

What you'll do

• Provide onsite and surge support for assigned shipboard equipment
• conduct technical evaluations, functional checks, troubleshooting, testing, analysis, and repairs. Inspect and assess equipment, review findings, recommend corrective action, and train ship personnel in operation and maintenance of firefighting, damage-control, pollution-abatement, and fresh-water systems. Submit required findings and reports.
