What you'll do

• Obtain patient charts from the patient care counselor and provide them to nurses
• prepare patients for admission and prepare surgical charts with patient labels
• assemble medical records for filing
• inform the manager about requested equipment supplies
• create the next-day surgery schedule and make copies
• arrange specimen pickup and record it in the specimen log
• coordinate with accounts receivable to maintain accurate surgery logs
• keep dictation and surgery logs current
• notify the anesthesia team of location, cut time, and surgeon
• forward schedules to surgeons and weekly schedules to the insurance department.
