Chief Building Engineer

Job overview

The Chief Building Engineer role is onsite in Silver Spring, MD, with a Monday–Friday schedule from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The salary range is $110,000–$125,000 per year. The role leads the Maintenance Department for Leisure World of Maryland, a private age-restricted community with approximately 8,500 residents. The department head oversees maintenance operations and the long-term preservation of community assets and building systems. The role coordinates staff, contractors, preventive maintenance, and capital projects to support reliable operations, regulatory compliance, and resident service.

What you'll do

• Direct Maintenance Department operations and staff
• establish goals, procedures, and service standards
• develop preventive, predictive, corrective, and deferred maintenance programs
• oversee building systems and asset records
• coordinate capital planning, budgets, contractors, and project administration
• support regulatory compliance, inspections, and emergency preparedness
• communicate with residents, committees, vendors, and the Board.
