CANS Assessor

Job overview

CANS Assessor is based in Allen, TX; assessments may be conducted in person, in the child’s home or community, or by telehealth. Compensation is not specified. Our Community Our Kids supports children in care and their permanency and placement teams through assessment and coordination. The assessor schedules and conducts CANS interviews, integrates information from children, caregivers, workers, providers, and records, and documents results and recommendations. The role helps ensure assessments are completed within required timeframes and that teams receive information to guide placement and care decisions.

What you'll do

• Schedule, coordinate, and conduct CANS interviews and assessments
• interview required participants and arrange interpreters as needed
• track compliance with assessment timeframes
• enter information into eCANS and recommendations into DFPS IMPACT
• communicate results to placement and permanency teams
• provide guidance and technical assistance
• monitor assessment frequency
• prepare reports
• maintain confidentiality and complete annual certification requirements.
