The Preschool Teacher position is onsite in Santa Barbara, CA, in a fully outdoor learning environment. The teacher supports the Zoo’s Early Explorers Preschool program as part of its Education team. The teacher leads engaging, age-appropriate curriculum for children ages 3–5, including hands-on science, stories, songs, games, zoo tours, and crafts. The role also supervises children, supports their safety and well-being, and works with the Education team to improve the Early Explorer experience.

What you'll do

• Coordinate with the Early Explorer Director on curriculum
• lead age-appropriate activities for children ages 3–5
• explain animal and environmental science concepts
• adapt pre-approved activities as needed
• supervise students during activities and extended day care as required
• maintain curriculum supplies
• respond to student health, welfare, and safety needs
• manage student sign-in and sign-out
• communicate with parents and guardians
• follow zoo policies and emergency protocols
• contribute to the Education team’s program improvement.
