Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant role is onsite in Lincoln, MA. Pay is $75,000–$85,000 per year. Mass Audubon is a nature-based conservation organization working to protect wildlife, conserve and restore land, advocate for environmental policies, and provide education and outdoor experiences. The accountant supports day-to-day financial operations by recording transactions accurately and on time. The role contributes to reliable reporting, reconciliations, audit readiness, and compliance with organizational policies and accounting principles.

What you'll do

• Prepare and enter monthly journal entries
• reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts
• investigate discrepancies and variances
• support monthly, quarterly, and annual close
• maintain supporting schedules
• record and reconcile cash receipts and deposits
• prepare bank reconciliations
• reconcile investment activity
• assist with accounts receivable
• back up invoice and reimbursement processing
• prepare audit schedules
• assist with grant, tax, and regulatory reporting
• support internal controls and process improvements
• document procedures and assist with cross-training.

Why this role

Requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field and 2–4 years of accounting experience. CPA track and nonprofit accounting experience are a plus. Schedule is 40 hours, Monday–Friday.
